Consistency is Key

This young man shooting the ball has been part of our program since he was four years old. Now as a second grader he plays up with the 3rd and 4th graders. From the outside looking in you would say, he is just better than kids his age, but if you look further you see, that is only the end result.

Hard work beats talent, when talent doesn’t work hard, and constantly working on your game matters. Results don’t come over night, they come over months, and years of working on your craft. Kids who play and train year round at anything have an advantage over kids who play or train for the season while in season.

The young man shooting the ball in the picture above played two sports that I know of and one would argue is above average in both, what also can be said is that he works on his game any chance he gets.

I’m not encouraging parents to specialize their child in one sport. What I do recommend to parents, is that you temper your expectations to the amount of time that you/your child has invested into whatever they chose to do, whether it be sports or school.
